Zero Excess Car Hire in Thailand

Want Zero Excess cover on your next car hire, whether it is a car, Single or Double Cab, MPV, Minivan or SUV in Thailand?

We use companies like:- ASAP, Budget, Chic, Drive, Payless, Sixt and Thai Rent a Car, with free extra drivers, full insurance, unlimited mileage, zero excess options & free delivery options. They each have different terms and costs for Zero Excess, and it can be confusing, so if unsure, get an email quote and ask us.
Thailand Zero Excess

We can offer discounts on a range of vehicles, like the Honda Jazz & Civic, Toyota Camry & Fortuner, and 12 seater minivans. However, these 12 seaters are only in Bangkok with Drive, who also now do the popular 2 & 4 seater pickup trucks.

Zero Excess Damage Waiver

Drive* and Thai Rent offer Zero Excess included in their rates, whilst Budget, ASAP, Chic and Sixt** have an excess, that can be reduced to zero, by paying extra insurance locally. Drive and Thai Rent also offer rates with an excess payable, which are cheaper than their zero excess rates.

So, if you take the cheaper excess rate, then you can reduce this to zero by paying for extra insurance on arrival, that starts at THB200/day, depending on vehicle and supplier. If unsure, get an email quote from us and ask us by email.

*Drive Zero Excess in Thailand

If renting a car for more than 15 days, please note that Drive, on their cheaper rates with an excess, now offer Zero Excess with a maximum daily fee limit of 15 days, even if rental is for say 3,4,5 weeks etc.. So, this can work out cheaper than renting with Zero Excess included, as they do not do special offers on these rates, just the rates with an excess.

**Zero Excess on 30 days rental or more

Sixt include Zero Excess in their rates if rent for 30 days or more. It can even be cheaper than renting a car under 30 days with Sixt and the other suppliers, so maybe possible better to book for say, 32 days then return after 26 days (Not apply if car being collected - need return to a depot).

Full Protection Excess in Thailand

Budget include Theft Protection in their Zero Excess package, but other suppliers offer an additional Full Protection cover.

One ways in Thailand

These are free in the same city, depot to depot, or in same province (e.g. to/from Don Sak Pier) but sometimes fees may apply depending on car hire supplier, length of rental and start and finish point and times. Budget are usually best for one ways, if rental over 7 days then no charge, as are Chic and Thai Rent. Under 7 days prices vary per supplier, so best get an email quote and we will advise.

ASAP, Sixt and Drive charge fees of between THB1,000 and THB10,000 for a one way, regardless of length of rental.

Rent a Double Cab, 4 seater, with open back.
Probably, the cheapest vehicle rental prices for cars in Thailand, be they:- Electric, Hybrid, Economy, Luxury, MPV, Minivan or SUV.

Driving a hire vehicle in Thailand

The vehicle is insured as well as the driver. This means that anyone can drive the automobile, and the lead driver does not have to be in the vehicle.

Extra drivers are free but need to be named and present to sign paperwork. What this means you can hire a car for a friend who may not have a credit card, as long as you go as lead driver and sign for the car. They can then drive the car, without you in it.

Free Delivery/Collection

Usually free if within fifteen kilometers of a depot, but exceptions can apply, especially if out of hours, or perhaps a short one or two day rental, or when delivery within a one way hire.

Car delivery to remote Thai towns

Budget have the widest range of depots throughout Thailand and cars can delivered nearly anywhere, but fees apply. If quite a distance from a depot, when choosing a time, best make for 1000H to 1600H, to avoid possible overtime fees, depending on distance. Please note fuel used in a delivery/collection service is not replaced, but car must be returned full.

Look for the logo next to car on the rates page, indicating if a delivery, and if fees apply. Get an email quote and we will advise on best options.

Young Drivers

Apart from Chic, you must be 21 years of age to drive, but Chic allow drivers aged 18, 19 & 20 years to drive, but pay an extra THB150/day locally. Your driving licence needs to have been held for at least one year.

Minivans in Thailand

Vans vary in size to seat up to seating driver plus eleven passengers, with seat belts.

Always best to book your next SUV early, knowing you can make changes later and if needed, get free cancellation, up to 48 hours before collection

Cross Border

Please note that cars cannot be driven outside of Thailand, and to do so invalidates insurance. Rental vehicles cannot be left at border posts, so look for nearest depot to where you want to get to, and then get a bus or taxi.

Free Extra Drivers

Usually you get at least one free extra driver included in the rental price.

Child Seats

All companies only cater for children aged 6 months to 3 and a half years old. You can fit your own child or booster seat. Child seats can be fitted in minivans.

Phuket

Most tourists head for Patong Beach where Sixt and Drive are the only suppliers to have depots by the beach, other than at the airport, so the others deliver for a fee. Vehicles can be delivered around the island, e.g. Kata Beach, which is a quieter beach resort option than Patong.

Pattaya

If heading for Beach Road, Walking Street, or the quieter Jomtien, then Budget are best if want to leave the car parked when get there. Days on the local islands are well worth it. The Natural Beach Hotel by the sea, is handily placed, and usually cheap and quiet.

Koh Samui

Get a Single or Double Cab to explore the island from either, the depot at Koh Samui Airport, or perhaps later at Chaweng Beach.
