For car hire in Phuket, all the MPV, SUV and car hire suppliers offer a delivery (and collection) service. This is usually free, depending on the distance and the car hire company you choose. All the car hire companies we use, have depots at Phuket Airport, but only Budget & National, have a depot actually on Patong Beach.

The other companies will deliver and charge a small fee. Of course, ideally you have already booked your Eco-car, or Fortuner through us first and saved yourself a lot of baht!

When choosing a car from the rental company, you also need to consider, if you are doing a one way trip in your hired vehicle, as extra fees may apply, and length of rental and supplier means prices can vary.

Yearly Events - April - Songkran, the Thai New Year, is the time to get hot and wet. November sees the Phuket Fishing Tournament bring in anglers from all over to catch fish and win prizes. December - The Kings Cup Regatta is an established, annual attraction for yachtsmen from around the world.

It takes place this year from December the 3rd to the 10th, at Kata Beach resort. Pop along and watch, even if not of the nautical persuasion.

In and Around Phuket

Prior to tourism, Phuket was famous for tin mining. As the reserves of tin dwindled, word of the Phuket beauty spread. It has now become one the most famous destinations in the world.

See the rain forest in the centre of the island, or leave your hire car at your hotel and explore underwater caves by canoe. Or how about, diving and snorkeling at Ko He? Fancy trying game fishing for tuna, barracuda or even sailfish?

Scuba Diving - Leopard Sharks and Stingrays, can be seen off Ko Raca. Why not catch a ferry to Phi Phi Island for a few nights and enjoy the diving and the life on the island.

Naiton Beach has pristine beaches fringed with Casuarina trees. Airport beach is 9 km long, and until recently, was the nesting ground for giant sea turtles. Ka Cape is favoured for snorkeling and local Thai cuisine.

Phuket by rental car, taxi, bus, plane, train

Phuket by car is best not rushed in 8 hours, so recommend stopping off along the way. Take route 4 from Bangkok. Stop a night or two in Hua Hin, then check the beaches at Chumporn.

By bus is a 14 hour journey from Bangkok for the the budget traveller. By air, daily flights from Bangkok, Koh Samui, Pattaya, Chaing Mai etc.

By train is slow, and the train does not go all the way to Phuket from Bangkok.
