In and around Pattaya

Situated less than a two hour drive from Bangkok, Pattaya is very popular destination for day and nightlife. However, as it is beside the sea, it is also a popular destination for families.

A day trip from Bangkok is a nice day out. There are many seafood restaurants, bars and sporting activities to satisfy all tastes. Pattaya Park on the way to Jomtien, has entertainment for the kids. It has fun-fair style rides, and a rotating restaurant at the top of the enormous spire. Slide down the 600ft wire back down to the pool area.

The beach at Pattaya is very long, and an enjoyable walk, whatever the time of day. Go for a stroll or jog. There are many watering holes along the way if it gets too hot. At the end of Beach Road, is Walking Street. No cars go down here in the evening. It is full of bars, clubs and restaurants, so you could start at one end and not make it to the other!

Getting to and from Pattaya

If not getting to Pattaya by plane, or hire car, then here are a few options:- You can get a bus from Ekamai to Pattaya, for about THB150. You can get to Ekamai bus station via the Sky Train. You can also stop a taxi in Bangkok and negotiate a price. It should be less than a two hour drive. Make sure you stop a good taxi with working air-conditioning. This will be about THB1,500. This can be pre-booked. However, a taxi back from Pattaya to Bangkok airport, can be about THB800. Your hotel can book a limo for you. This will be about THB2,500. Check with a travel agent, and they can book you on a minibus, from about THB500.
