About Adelaide Airport

In terms of business, Adelaide Airport is the fifth busiest airport in Australia. It has almost 7 million passengers in any given year. The airport is six kilometres from the city centre and lies near the West Beach. It is a single terminal airport that has all a traveller might ever need. The airport is easily accessible as well.

Get to the city centre from the airport by taking the Sir Richard Williams Drive and then the Sir Donald Bradman highway. After a four mile ride, you will get into the Adelaide central business district.

Adorable Adelaide Driving

Start in central Adelaide and head southeast on the M1 toward Hahndorf. This short drive takes about 30 minutes and passes through the Adelaide Hills, with rolling vineyards, eucalyptus forests, and hillside views. Hahndorf is a historic German village with cafes, craft shops, and tree-lined streets. It is perfect for a relaxed day trip with local food and art.

Alternatively, head south from Adelaide on the A13 toward McLaren Vale and then continue to Victor Harbor. This route winds through wine country, coastal cliffs, and beach towns. Stop at wineries in McLaren Vale, walk the causeway to Granite Island in Victor Harbor, and enjoy ocean views along the way. The drive blends countryside charm with seaside beauty and takes about 90 minutes each way.

Car Hire & Travel at Adelaide Airport

To get to the heart of the town, just use the Andy Thomas Circuit. The journey will take you approximately 15 minutes. If you do not have a car, you can hail a taxi or the Skylink buses at the airport to take you there.

There is another bus operator, the Jetbus, which can drive you towards the north-eastern suburbs of the city and possibly connect you to other terminals. Don't expect to see the regular brand name shops, as the focus of shopping in Adelaide is local goods and produce, from RM Williams outdoor wear to aboriginal art.

If you do not have a car, you will be left with buses and taxis as your primary transportation options. The Skylink Airport Shuttle can take you to the city centre and they operate every 30 minutes.

They have a mini coach service and could drive you to your hotel. As for the taxis, the ranks can be found right outside the airport. It is only a 15 minute ride to the city centre. Taxis are metered but you might have to give the driver a tip for his services.
