About Port Macquarie

Is on the east coast, being north of Sydney and south of Brisbane. You can fly to Port Macquerie Airport with Virgin and Qantas and hire a car there. It is also on the banks of the Hastings River.

This is home to the Billabong Koala Park. There are nine beaches, but only three have lifeguards manning them.

The town is regarded as a place to go and live when you are retired. About 40,000 people currently live here. The Mountain Bike Festival of Australia is held each year here in June.

Port Macquarie Airport, which is only a ten minute drive from the CBD (Central Business District), operates twenty four hours a day. It handles just under a quarter of a million passengers each year. There is cafe and bar where you can use your laptop on the airport wi-fi. Desks are in the terminal, but if not collecting a car then taxis and shuttle buses are available outside the terminal. If short of cash, then there is an ATM.
