Leaving Valence, you'll pass through Montelimar, famous for its nougat, and continue toward Grignan, where a Renaissance chateau rises above lavender fields.. From here, head toward Nyons and Vaison la Romaine, winding through olive groves and Roman ruins. The scenery becomes increasingly Mediterranean as you approach the Luberon region, with ochre cliffs in Roussillon and hilltop villages like Gordes.

Another unforgettable drive is eastward into the Vercors Massif. The roads here are dramatic and carved into limestone cliffs, especially the Combe Laval route, which clings to the edge of a gorge with dizzying views. You will pass through alpine meadows, forests and remote hamlets.

Port Jouvet overlooking the river is charming and a popular place to retreat to in the evenings with host of wine bars and restaurants.

The railway station Gare de Valence TGV, is located in the East approx. 10km outside the town, a regular shuttle service connects it to the town centre and nearby airport.
