About Christchurch
This southern island city continues to recover from the earthquakes of 2010, 2011 and 2012, but still remains the largest city on the South Island, halfway down on the east coast.
There is plenty to do here, from hitting the ski slopes, to tanning on the beaches. If you like getting wet, then white water rafting is also a popular adventure, as is the jet-boat, or falling out of a plane and doing a bit of skydiving.
The city squares around the central cathedral Square make it a unique place to visit. The local Maori will refer to the city as Otautahi.
Swim with the dolphins in Akaroa Harbour. The nearby Mount Cook is a must see, if not a must climb. Well, if you call a three hour drive nearby. You should make the effort of going for a ride on the local tramway, as makes for a good way to see the city.
