CDW Excess Reduction & Cover

Like most car hire, there will be CDW (Collision Damage Waiver) which is an excess amount of around GBP500 (can vary on vehicle size), and this will be held against your credit card, for any possible internal, or external, damage to your vehicle.

To reduce the risk of being charged, you have two options:- (1) reduce the amount (usually to zero), by paying extra insurance on arrival, or (2) take out excess insurance cover, but the excess amount will still be held against your card. Excess insurance dos also offer other benefits, and either an annual or single trip cover is recommended.

One way car rentals are possible, but a charge applies. Varies on each UK car rental supplier, but usually about GBP500, but is included in price when booking. For example you can collect in Swindon and for a small extra fee, you can leave it at Gatwick Airport. Please also note, that the downtown depots are shut for holidays and most on Sundays, so cars get scarce, quickly.

This town has strong links with the railways, to the extent that their football team, in the Football League, are called The Railwaymen. To get to Swindon from London, jump on the M4 for just over an hour, or let the train take the strain, considering the number of trains that pass through here, from all directions. So, if you like trains, then the Steam Museum is a must see. Having good networks, makes the town a good place for major employers, like Honda, Nokia and WH Smiths.
