The Russian Federation, being a very big region, spans nine time zones. It is separated by two wide points such as the Poland boundary and the southeastern part of Kuril Islands. Russia is mostly made of wide stretches with its north heavily forested. Mountain ranges border the southern part of the country.

The major cities of Russia are Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Samara, and Kazan. Other cities include Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, Nizhny Novgorod, and Omsk.
