Aberdeen is also referred to as the Granite City. It is also known as oil town, as the city plays a major part in the North Sea oil business. Being in the north east of Scotland, it is usually cold, grey and damp. From Aberdeen Airport, it will take about 15 minutes to drive into central Aberdeen, using the A96 Inverness to Aberdeen road. If car not needed, other modes of transport include the Bluebird stage coach shuttle service between the airport and city centre. Journey time is about twenty minutes in normal traffic. Taxis are also available outside arrivals with an approximate cost to centre of Aberdeen of GBP15.

Aberdeen Airport is also know locally as Dyce Airport, with the three letter IATA code of ABZ.
