You can get cheaper Portsmouth car hire here, as well as SUVs, estates, minivans and MPV vans at discounted prices. You can now choose from Avis, Budget, Europcar, Herts and Sixt. Vehicles can be collected from the harbour, or in town.

All the prices have unlimited mileage, breakdown and collision damage waiver/reduction (CDW) included. Insurance to either cover claims is available via Axa, or you can pay extra on collection to reduce to either zero, or a lower amount.

One way car rentals are possible, but a charge applies. Varies on each UK car rental supplier, but usually about GBP50, but is included in price when booking. For example you can collect in Pompey and for a small extra fee, you canleave it at Southampton Airport.

Please also note, that the downtown depots are shut for holidays and most on Sundays, so cars get scarce, quickly.

This city is home to the British Navy & Pompey FC and is the only island city in the UK, as most of it is on Portsea Island.

If naval history is your thing, then you will find the Mary Rose (Henry the Eighth) and HMS Victory (old warship still working) docked here, along with HMS Warrior (an iron hull warship).

Although Plymouth is a bigger port, Portsmouth docks are home to the majority of the naval fleet, so it is here you find the Royal Naval Museum.

Whilst in town, the D-Day Museum and Fort Nelson are worth some of your time.
