The terminal buses can take you to the SULGA line, if ever you want to catch the train. The trains, on the other hand, can lead you to Florence via the Florence Terontola Perugia line or to Rome via the Rome Foligno Perugia line.
However, going in and out of the airport via your own car is the most convenient mode of transportation in this part of town. Anybody with a passport, credit card and a driving license can hire a car right at the airport, subject to age.

Drive your car from the airport towards the Cesena exit and into the A14 Adriatica Motorway. This road would also take you right into the heart of Perugia.

You can also use the A1 del Sole Motorway as an alternate route, just take the Valdichiana exit. If you are headed south, take Adriatica from Civitanova or the A1 del Sole Motorway from the Orte exit.
