If are staying in Bari, the number one tourist attraction is Basilica di San Nicola, which houses the remains of St Nicholas. If you enjoy shopping, then visit the grid-shaped city centre, which boosts the largest shopping centre in all of Italy, with the main focus being; high fashion and tailoring.
Apuila
Bari itself is not a true tourist destination, but serves as the gateway to the beautiful Apulia region. The true splendour can be best appreciated by touring the region stopping off at one or more of the many small villages. Sample traditional Italian food and village life, that has changed little over the centuries.
Take a break from the tourist attractions and drive approx 60kms towards Valle d'itria an area famed for its strange architecture, houses having an uncanny resemblance to bee hives, worthy of a day trip in your hire car.
