Oulu To Do? - If you time it right, you may take part in the annual summer Music and Video Festival and Air Guitar World championships. Yes, air guitar, so if you fancy yourself as an undiscovered Hendrix, Townsend or Gallagher, why not take part, as it is a most enjoyable festival, and not to be taken too seriously.
If arriving in Helsinki, then why not rent a car from the airport and drive to Oulu. The distance is roughly 600kms, but the road system is first class and well sign posted, allowing you to enjoy the countryside.
Do watch for any stray moose, that have a habit of wondering onto the roads. Alternatively a regular train service is available from Helsinki to Oulu train station, or fly direct to Oulu Airport.
