About Bergen

Bergen is home to the second busiest airport in the Norway. It is located in the southwest area of Bergen, more particularly in Flesland, which is around twelve miles from the city centre.

Bergen Airport, also known as the Bergen Airport Flesland and can accommodate as many as 5 million passengers in any given year. The airport is modern, well-equipped, and complete with everything that a traveler may need.

The airport is only thirty minutes from downtown Bergen. Taxis are available outside arrivals. However, they can be expensive, with the average fare to downtown Bergen, over three hundred Norwegian Krona.

Be prepared to pay a hefty price though, because the taxis servicing the airport are usually high-end cars like Volvo and Mercedes.

CDW Excess Reduction & Cover

Like most car hire, there will be CDW (Collision damage Waiver) which is an excess amount of around EUR1,000 (can vary on vehicle size), and this will be held against your credit card, for any possible internal, or external, damage to your vehicle.

To reduce the risk of being charged, you have two options:- (1) reduce the amount (usually to zero), by paying extra insurance on arrival, or (2) take out excess insurance cover from GBP2.99/day, but the excess amount will still be held against your card. Excess insurance dos also offer other benefits, and either an annual or single trip cover is recommended.
