The best beaches in South Korea are the ones located in Busan, more particularly the Haeundae Beach. Jeju Island offers lots of picturesque places, being a World Heritage Cultural site. Gangwon is popular for its east coast beaches and nice ski resorts.
The best lakes can be found in Chuncheon, the city capital of the Gangwon Province. The rest of the lakes found in South Korea are the Andong Lake, Upo Wetland, Jinyang Lake, Taki River, and the Anapji.
Industry - The main industry is related to science and technology. Since their exports are mostly electronics and cars, they are investing on the development of new technologies to drive their latest products. The most profitable industries also includes robotics, aerospace research, shipping and biotechnology.
History & The People - The ancestry of Korea dates as far back as 7th Century BC. Korea has seen through the dynasties of China until they were invaded by the Japanese in the 16th century. North and South Korea declared themselves as individual states not very long after World War I, when the Soviet had gained hold of North Korea while the US forces took the southern part of the nation.
South Korea is surrounded mostly by water, having a total coast line of nearly fifteen hundred miles. There are lots of mountain ranges around the peninsula, with the highest peak being the Hallasan Mountain.
The major cities are Seoul, Busan, Incheon, and Daegu. However, for visiting and touring purposes, the best places to be are the regions of Gangwon, North Gyeongsang and Jeju.
Did You Know? They still use the lunar calendar for their traditional holidays. This means that their celebrations never fall on the same date each year. This is the reason why South Korea has two New Year celebrations:- Shinjeong, which always falls on January 1, and Seollal, which happens on the first day of the first month of the South Korean lunar calendar.
