The best drive in the Faroe Islands begins in the capital city of Torshavn and heads north toward the village of Gjogv on the island of Eysturoy. Leaving Torshavn, the road climbs into the hills and offers wide views of the sea and nearby islands. The route crosses the bridge to Eysturoy and passes through quiet villages like Kollafjordur and Funningur. The terrain is steep and open, with green slopes, narrow fjords, and cliffs that drop into the ocean. Sheep are common along the roadside, and the weather can shift quickly from sun to fog or rain.
As the drive continues, the road narrows and winds through valleys before reaching Gjogv. This village is known for its natural harbor and peaceful setting. From Gjogv, the drive can extend south to Eidi and loop around the northern tip of Eysturoy. This section includes views of the sea stacks called Risin and Kellingin and the open Atlantic. The roads are paved and in good condition, though some are tight and exposed to wind.
