About Brescia Town
Situated in the northern Lombardy region of Italy, Brescia attracts tourist with its peaceful lakes, stunning mountain vista and a wealth of history revealed in its castles and museums.
It takes just a few minutes to reach Brescia castle via Contrada Sant'Urbano. It is a steep walk but is well worth the effort. This castle has everything a castle should have towers, ramparts, drawbridges and court yards all surrounded by gardens. This, along the ancient arms museum, are two things you must see whilst in Brescia. The Arms Museum is home to the largest collection of weapons and armour in Europe. Many of the items on show were made in Brescia. The Risorgimento Museum concentrates on the 10 day period of Brescian history in which the city fought off the Austrians.
If travelling by car then make a point of visiting the area known as Bresica Plain, which runs along the river, south of the town. You will stumble across ancient villages and more museums. This area has many good hotels and is famed for its riverside restaurants that serve traditional dishes of the region. This region of Italy is the home to some beautiful lakes and stunning mountain scenery. Lake Garda and the mountain range of Val Trompia being prime examples.
