About Barrow-in-Furness

This town has along history of ship building and recently, submarines. Sitting in the beautiful county of Cumbria, and even though at the end of a peninsula, and not that easy to get to, this mainly old industrial town is worth a visit, to see the Abbey, Castle and the Dock Museum. It can make for a different base to explore the Lake District (Coniston & Windemere are close by) that is only a few miles north and the Yorkshire Dales National Park to the east.

To the south you have Blackpool, from where on a clear, from the top of the tower, you can see the Isle of Man, which is west of Barrow.
