Cheaper Antigua Car Rental

Book cheaper car hire in Antigua through us, at VC Bird Airport.

We currently use Avis, Budget & Drive A Matic on this small Caribbean island. The cars selection is small, but cars are at the airport, and around the island, with a fuel policy of receive full, return full. No GPS option as not really needed.

You can also collect vehicles in St John's. at Heritage Quay & Green Bay.

Amend and Cancel - Both can be done for free, but the cancellation policy has restrictions related to timing, so please check.

Antigua Driving Guide

Please note you will need to buy a driving permit, which lasts for six months. The license cost is USD20. Your local supplier will do this for you when you arrive. All you need, is a valid driver's license from your home country.

For some, driving on the left side of the road may be new, so be aware. Take your time, until you adjust, especially at roundabouts. Driving permits can also be obtained from the Antigua and Barbuda Transport Board (268-460-8300/1).

Hiring a 4x4 SUV, like the Toyota Rav4, may be the best option to get around the volcanic regions of the island. Other options include; the Ford Focusautomatic, Nissan Tilda, or the fuel efficient Chevrolet Spark.

About Antigua & Barbuda

Spend a year in Antigua, and you can be on a different beach every day, except in a leap year! It also goes by the name of Waladi, as the island is known by the locals, of which there are over eighty thousand are on the island, with a large number living in the capital, St Johns. Dotted around around the island are a fair few expats as well.

Interesting Facts - Lord Nelson did a stint here, before becoming famous. He was not that well liked, due to trying to ban trade with the newly formed, nearby America.

If able, visit and donate to the Crossroads Centre. This is the local rehab clinic in Antigua, founded and funded by Eric Clapton. The Antiguan terrain consists mainly of low lying limestone, and small coral islands. Cricket, followed by cricket, then water sports preside here. However, football and basketball are gaining ground. The cricket fans amongst us, will heardof Gary Sobers, Curtly Ambrose and Viv Richards. Then there are the non locals who live there, like Richard Branson and Oprah Winfrey (but not together!).

Annual Events:- January sees the Rowing Regatta, the Super Yacht and Round the Island races every year. February has more ocean going events with the Valentine Day Regatta at Jolly Harbour mid month, followed by the Royal Ocean Offshore race.
