Zambia used to have a national airline, but not at the moment, so need fly with other carriers. Livingstone on the Zambezi and next to Victoria Falls draws in discerning tourist. You can walk, or drive, across the bridge to Zimbabwe. Zambia is landlocked, and if you find any sand, then be careful of that big burly croc or hippo! The Zambezi is a grade 5 whitewater river and is a great thrill to ride for a day or a week.
Zambia is rich in minerals and ores. It used to be called Northern Rhodesia and broke away from colonial rule and Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe). Lusaka is the capital. Livingstone on the Vic Falls is also popular. Football is the main sport, with Zambia having won the Africa Nations Cup in 2012. About fourteen million people call Zambia home.
