About Johannesburg & Airport

Johannesburg Airport is also known as OR Tambo International Airport. It is South Africa's busiest airport and is the main hub for the whole of South Africa. The airport is 14 miles east of the centre of bustling Johannesburg. It is vast, catering for over 14 million passengers per year, all beneath one roof with 6 different terminals. Terminals 1 and 2 are for international flights, terminals 3 and 4 are reserved for domestic flights, whilst 5 and 6 carry the overflow from both international and domestic.

South Africa is a major fly-drive destination. All the main companies are represented outside the arrivals hall, with rental cars located in the airport opposite the terminal building.

Most downtown hotels will provide a shuttle service but you may need to phone if arriving out of hours. Phones are available beside the baggage reclaim.
