If a big fan of the movie Lawrence of Arabia, or just Arabic history in general, then a visit to the famous world heritage site of the Ksar of Ait-Ben-Haddou is a must. About twenty miles from Ouarzazate, the Ksar dates back to pre-Saharan times, being a high walled town of earthen homes, that featured in the above movie, amongst others.

If you've never head of this Moroccan town in the desert some 100 miles south east of Marrakech, then you might be more familiar with the Marathon des Sables (Sahara) Marathon.

This is the marathon of marathons, where the runners will need more than a Marathon bar to recover, as they will be running about 150 miles in a week! That is the same as running about five and half marathons, not too mention the blazing heat and sand dunes, sand storms...and lots of sand in general!
