Why Need Extra Car Hire Insurance

This is optional, but even if you have Zero Excess included, they usually do NOT cover damage to tyres, wheels, underside, glass etc. This can also apply to key replacement, and in the event of an accident/damage you might not be able to get another car, so again you are insured against the extra cost.

About Excess Cover

Excess is the term used to describe your liability should you be unfortunate to be in an accident or if car is stolen, the cover also covers damage for example if car is scratched whilst parked.
The excess will usually normally range from something like EUR500 to over EUR2,000 depending on the car category, and country you are in (e.g Australia goes higher) that you are renting. It is set high on purpose as the rental company wants to sell you a local daily policy, sometimes called super cover (it has all different fancy names in each country, but basically if you take out this additional daily insurance cover the excess with usually be reduced to nil.

Be aware the local cover is expensive and often does not cover damage to the underside, windows, keys, wheels.and tyres, which are things that can be easily damaged even with careful driving.

We offer car hire excess insurance that will cover you for claims on the excess, for both damage and theft, plus any damage to windscreens, tyres and underside.

You may take our car rental excess insurance policy out for either the period of the rental or an annual policy, if you happen to be a frequent traveler.

Amount still held locally?

Now be aware your card will still be swiped for the local insurance excess for your minibus, SUV, MPV or estate car and if you have an accident, or get a prang in a car park, you must pay the claim from this excess. However after you come home you can then use your excess cover to claim the amount charged, via your insurance policy.
