Here a Drive to Try

It begins in Sarajevo and heads southwest toward Mostar. Leaving the capital, the road follows the Neretva River through a valley lined with forested hills and small villages. The terrain is mountainous, and the drive includes tunnels, bridges, and winding sections that reveal wide views of the river and cliffs. The town of Konjic is a good stop along the way, with its old stone bridge and access to rafting and hiking.

Continuing toward Mostar, the road passes through Jablanica, a town known for its war museum and roasted lamb. The scenery becomes more dramatic as the river narrows and the cliffs rise. Reaching Mostar, the city is famous for its Ottoman era bridge, old town, and mix of cultures. The drive from Sarajevo to Mostar takes about two and a half hours and offers a strong mix of nature and history.

For those with more time, the route can extend south to the town of Pocitelj and then to the Kravice Waterfalls. This section is more rural, with open fields and quiet roads. The waterfalls are wide and surrounded by forest, offering a place to rest and swim.
