Aruba Car Rental

Cars are driven on the right. You get unlimited mileage, breakdown cover, excess reduction and insurance included in the cost.

The largest vehicle you can get is a 9 seater Hyundai H1 minivan that can get nine passengers in it, but does not leave room for much luggage. The 5 seater Kia Sportage can seat five people and hold five cases.

Free amendments to booking allowed (but subject car price changes) and usually free cancellation up to 48 hours before collection.

Aruba Driving Discovery

One of the most scenic drives in Aruba begins at Arashi Beach, a tranquil spot known for its clear waters and laid back vibe. From there, you head north along the coast toward the California Lighthouse. The road hugs the shoreline, offering uninterrupted views of the Caribbean Sea and rugged desert terrain.

As you approach the lighthouse, the landscape becomes more dramatic, with cacti studded hills and wind sculpted rock formations. The lighthouse itself stands tall as a historic beacon, and from its base you can take in sweeping views of the island's northwest coast.

If you want to extend the drive, you can loop inland to visit Alto Vista Chapel, a peaceful yellow church perched on a hill surrounded by walking trails and panoramic vistas.

When in Aruba

Most of the resorts, with beaches, are on the leeward side of the island, where there are miles and miles of white sandy beaches. However, as a contrast, the windward side offers more rugged beaches, with limestone coves and a more weathered look.

The airport also goes by the name of Reina Beatrix Airport. The locals are called Aruban and there are over one hundred thousand of them. The official languages are Dutch and Papiamento. The dialling code is +297. The Florin is the local currency, with US Dollars widely accepted. However, some places may not accept the larger denominations, like the USD50 or USD100 bills.

The Tumba Musical Contest is not to be missed. February sees the Carnival Queens being crowned for all ages as well as lots of carnivals.

Aruba Carnival - Aruba's largest cultural celebration featuring parades, music, and elaborate costumes. Includes the Torch Parade, Lighting Parade, and Grand Parade.

Soul Beach Music Festival - A beachside music and comedy festival with international R&B and hip-hop artists. Includes concerts, beach parties, and nightlife events.

Aruba Symphony Festival & Academy - A classical music festival with performances by international musicians. Hosted at Cas di Cultura in Oranjestad.

Aruba International Regatta - Sailing races featuring sunfish, beach cats, and yachts. Includes workshops and beachside festivities.

One Cool Summer International Drag Race - High speed car and motorcycle races at Aruba's International Raceway. Popular with motorsport fans.

Weather in Aruba - Aruba will mainly be sunny with showers and thunderstorms to the end of May. The year round average is 30C, with most days consisting of blue skies, and cooling trade breezes. Aruba only has a small chance of being affected in hurricane season.
