If travelling by car, one of the most popular routes is along the east coast. Here you will find many tranquil beaches. Some of these cater for naturists and gays. Barril and Cacela beaches are just two examples. Tavira Island is one the best beaches, with its own camping park.
Nearby is Ria Formosa Natural Park. This is home to hundreds of migratory birds, in both winter and summer. The small towns Tavira and Olho are prime examples of the easy going Portuguese lifestyle. Both offer low cost hotels and alfresco dining, late into the evening.

Supplier Service: The pick up process is fairy quick and painless and the cars are within a short walking distance from the office. The staff are friendly and helpful English speakers. Car: Our car this year was a well used 2006 model Ford Fiesta which was serviceable if a little tatty (it would have been nice to have had the current model). The actual car make / model you get is always unknown until you walk out to the car with one of their staff to confirm the condition. I think I would like to know this in advance. |

Brakes were appalling had to be pumped. Clutch noisy and worn. Never hire a Chevrolet Matiz gutless engine especially when you are on mountain roads with hairpin bends quite worrying. I had asked for a Toyota Aygo. I mentioned the brake problem but the did not seem concerned. |

The pick up was a joke,& took 1/2 hour longer than normal due to lack of staff etc Car: The car was in poor condition , not clean & it had bearly enough fuel to get me to my destination ( only 70k away) !!!! I will avoid Airauto in future & tell my friends to do the same |

They meet you at departures but if you are going to arrive at a different time then you must ring them and let them know. No real parking restrictions at departures so no problem if you are a little early and have to wait. Car: Mitsubishi Colt Automatic - Clean, well prepared and reliable. |
