Pattaya U Tapao Airport - where can you fly to?

Car Hire at Pattaya Airport. Also known as U Tapao Airport, car rental needed ?

As of September 2007, Bangkok Airways have daily flights to Phuket, and twice daily to Koh Samui. PMT Air fly from Siem Reap in Cambodia, or you can use Bangkok Airways to Samui, spend a night on the island, and then catch a plane to Siem Reap.

Alternatively, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International Airport is about one and half hours away, which has direct fllights to Siem Reap, Phnom Penh, and many others. The old Bangkok Don Mueang Airport has also re-opened, but currenty serves a few domestic flights only. Please check tickets for correct airports.

Korean Air also fly a few times each week from South Korea, and chartered flights from Russia and Eastern Europe.

Where is Pattaya Airport?

It is about a half hour drive, south from Pattaya, on the Sukhumvit Road towards Rayong. Road signs are clearly marked for U Tapao Airport. Taxi drivers will probably want a set fee (Circa THB300?), rather than work on meter, as they are unlikely to get a fare back to Pattaya, due to only 3 scheduled flights a day.

Need to hire a car at Pattaya Airport?

There are no car rental desks in the airport, but car hire can be pre-booked, and the car delivered to the airport. Flight arrival and departure details are essential, and as of September 2007, Budget Rent A Car charge a delivery fee of THB250 each way, plus tax, payable locally. Thai Rent a Car can also deliver, but delivery fee depends on car hired, and length of rental.

About Pattaya Airport

Although been there for quite some time, the airport is newly opened to scheduled flights, and thus the facilities are fairly basic. Refreshments are available, but dont expect gourmet cuisine. Money changers are also in the terminal. Immigration facilities for overseas flights.
