Gerona or Girona

Girona on the Costa Brava is approx 100KM's north East of Barcelona. Sometimes spelt Gerona it is a beautiful city with a rich history dating back to the Roman Empire. The walled old quarter has a strong Turkish influence evident in the narrow maze of streets.

Most tourist arrive via Girona Airport which is serviced by Budget airlines such as Ryan Air and Easy Jet.

Gerona's airport is just an hour's drive from Barcelona as such many tourists heading towards Barcelona choose to fly to the less crowded Girona Airport and then commute to Barcelona via bus , taxi or rental car.

If driving from central Spain then take the A2 motorway to Zaragoza and change to A7 once past Barcelona and continue north until you see exit for Girona.
